Political Drama: Oburu Odinga Faults Uhuru Kenyatta Over 2022 Election ‘Duplicity’
NAIROBI, Kenya — In a dramatic twist that has shaken up the local political landscape, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Dr. Oburu Odinga has launched a scathing attack on former President Uhuru Kenyatta. Oburu accused Kenyatta of political duplicity and failing to deliver the presidency to the late Raila Odinga in the 2022 general elections.
Speaking at an official ODM party function, the Siaya Senator did not mince his words. He claimed that the former Head of State explicitly brokered a deal that required ODM to sacrifice its ambitions for the Nairobi County gubernatorial seat in favor of Uhuru’s Jubilee Party.
According to Oburu, this major concession was made under the strict assurance that Uhuru would marshal his political machinery to secure the country’s top seat for the opposition veteran.

“It was a broken promise from Uhuru Kenyatta and his people to the late Raila Odinga,” Oburu maintained, expressing deep bitterness over the outcome of the 2022 polls.
The scathing remarks signal a significant shift in political alignments. With the current Kenya Kwanza administration operating a broad-based government alongside ODM, political analysts note that Uhuru has increasingly become a strategic target.
Previously, the former president faced intense criticism primarily from diehard government insiders, such as Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot. Oburu’s sudden entry into this chorus of condemnation indicates that the erstwhile Azimio la Umoja coalition partners are decisively parting ways.
As politicians begin drawing battle lines for the next electoral cycle, blaming the retired president appears to have become a unifying strategy for those seeking reelection. By framing Uhuru as the ultimate political scapegoat, leaders across the political divide are actively reshaping the narrative surrounding the 2022 political betrayal.
