Martha Karua Lauds Caleb Amisi’s New Party Launch Amid Notable Opposition Absences
NAIROBI, KENYA — Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua has officially endorsed the launch of the People’s Renaissance Movement (PRM), founded by Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi.
The launch took place at the party’s headquarters, where Amisi—a senior figure within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM)—unveiled the new political outfit. The event attracted key dignitaries, including former Chief Justice David Maraga.
However, the conspicuous absence of prominent opposition figures, such as ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna, Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka, and former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, has ignited fresh questions regarding the unity of the opposition alliance.
Despite the notable absences, Karua took to social media to congratulate the Saboti lawmaker, emphasizing the importance of political pluralism and democratic competition in the country.

“I congratulate the People’s Renaissance Movement on its official launch and wish its leadership and members well as they begin this new chapter,” Karua stated. “A thriving democracy is one where political movements can emerge and different ideas can compete for the trust of the people.”
Karua underscored that Kenya’s political future relies on creating inclusive spaces for participation and genuine choice. She expressed hope that the new outfit would advance democratic accountability and opportunity for all citizens.
