The light aircraft was reportedly attempting to take off when it suffered a sudden tyre burst, causing the pilot to lose control, veer off the runway, and crash within the facility’s precinct.
The fast response from the multi-agency emergency team onsite ensured that the area was quickly secured.
Fortunately, despite the frightening nature of the crash-landing and the visible damage to the plane’s nose gear, the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) and local aviation officials have confirmed that all passengers and crew escaped unhurt. No fatalities or serious casualties were recorded in the morning mishap.
Aviation authorities have launched a formal investigation to determine the precise circumstances surrounding the takeoff failure.
This incident joins a string of recent domestic aviation emergencies that have sparked fresh public conversations regarding runway safety standards and the strict enforcement of maintenance protocols within Kenya’s busy tourism flight corridors.
