After weeks of heightened political debate and growing speculation over the country’s future leadership, President William Ruto struck a calm and reflective tone while addressing supporters during a public engagement.
His remarks came at a time when political temperatures are steadily rising ahead of the 2027 General Election, with allies and opponents intensifying early campaigns across different regions.
The Head of State appeared unfazed by mounting criticism from leaders questioning his administration’s performance. Instead, he urged Kenyans to remain focused on development and national unity, saying leadership transitions are ultimately determined by God and the will of the people.
President Ruto stated that he was not losing sleep over whether he would secure a second term in office, insisting that his priority remains delivering on the promises he made to Kenyans during the 2022 campaigns.
According to the President, his administration is concentrating on economic recovery, infrastructure expansion, affordable housing projects, and improving opportunities for young people.
“We will continue serving Kenyans diligently. The issue of elections and what happens in the future we leave to God. If the people decide otherwise, we will move on,” Ruto said, drawing cheers from supporters at the event.
The President also dismissed claims that his government had become distracted by political battles, arguing that tangible development projects across the country speak louder than political rhetoric.
He defended his administration’s economic policies, saying difficult decisions taken over the past three years were necessary to stabilize the economy and reduce dependency on borrowing.

His comments come amid increased political realignments and renewed activity from opposition leaders seeking to challenge his re-election bid.
Several leaders allied to the Kenya Kwanza coalition have recently intensified grassroots mobilization campaigns, declaring confidence that Ruto will win a second term comfortably.
At the same time, critics of the administration have continued to raise concerns over the high cost of living, taxation, unemployment, and public debt.
Opposition figures have accused the government of failing to address the everyday struggles facing ordinary Kenyans despite repeated promises of economic transformation.
However, Ruto maintained that his government inherited major economic challenges and is gradually steering the country toward stability.
He called on leaders to avoid divisive politics and instead support programs aimed at improving livelihoods.
Political analysts say the President’s latest remarks could be interpreted as an attempt to portray confidence and humility while easing tensions surrounding the increasingly heated succession debate.
Even as political campaigns slowly begin taking shape across the country, the President insisted he remains focused on governance rather than early election battles, saying history will judge his administration based on service delivery and impact on wananchi.
