Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is set to travel to London, where new details have emerged about a high-profile cultural event he is expected to attend.
According to a poster that has since gone viral online, Gachagua will be the chief guest at the Murima Festival UK, a gathering organized by members of the Mount Kenya diaspora.
The festival is scheduled to take place on May 9 at Campbell Park. The event, branded as “Murima UK Festival,” is expected to bring together Kenyans living in the United Kingdom, particularly those from the Mount Kenya region, for a day of cultural celebration, entertainment, and networking.
The poster indicates that the event will run from 12 PM until late, with a lineup of popular performers including Samidoh as the headline act.
Other entertainers listed include Karuri Kiarutara, Auntie Jemimah, Sammy Irungu, and several DJs, promising a vibrant mix of music and cultural showcases.

Gachagua’s attendance as chief guest underscores his continued influence among his support base, particularly within the Mount Kenya community both locally and abroad.
Sources close to the former deputy president have described the trip as part of a broader strategy for political “refreshment and restructuring” following weeks of intense engagements across Kenya.
However, his planned stay in the UK—reportedly lasting up to two months—has sparked mixed reactions among supporters.
Some have urged him to remain in the country and spearhead campaigns ahead of the crucial Olkalau by-election, arguing that his presence would be key in countering rivals aligned with the Kenya Kwanza administration.
Despite the concerns, the London event is shaping up to be a significant diaspora gathering, offering Gachagua a platform to engage with Kenyans abroad while reinforcing cultural ties and political networks beyond Kenya’s borders.
