Church leaders in Kiambu County have come out strongly in defense of Governor Kimani Wamatangi, rejecting attempts by some political factions to remove him from office.
The leaders, operating under the Mountain Movers United Clergy Forum, condemned what they described as unjustified efforts to destabilize the county’s leadership. According to them, such moves threaten both governance and the unity of the local community.
Speaking during a meeting in Kiambu town, the forum’s chairperson emphasized that the church has a duty to protect leaders who have demonstrated commitment to development and service to the people.
“Governor Wamatangi has worked tirelessly for the welfare of Kiambu residents. We cannot sit back while others seek to disrupt the progress we have achieved,” the chairperson said.
The forum accused certain political operatives of attempting to create divisions in the county for personal gain. They called on residents to remain vigilant and support leadership that prioritizes community development.

In a show of solidarity, the clergy pledged to mobilize their congregations to ensure stability in Kiambu County’s political landscape.
They argued that removing a governor through political pressure rather than due process undermines democracy and sets a dangerous precedent.
Governor Wamatangi, according to the church leaders, has been instrumental in initiating programs that improve social welfare, health services, and local infrastructure.
They urged all stakeholders to focus on constructive dialogue rather than attempts to forcefully oust elected officials.
The Mountain Movers United Clergy Forum concluded by stating that faith based institutions have a role to play in safeguarding the interests of the people and promoting ethical leadership.
They vowed to continue defending leaders who they believe act in the best interest of their communities.
