A fresh political revelation by Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga has stirred debate within the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), after he disclosed details of an incident involving Secretary General Edwin Sifuna that reportedly angered the late party leader Raila Odinga.
Speaking during a recent radio interview, Oburu claimed that tensions between Sifuna and Raila began well before the party’s current internal wrangles became public. According to him, a particular event held in Kakamega marked a turning point in their relationship.
Oburu alleged that during the gathering, Sifuna mobilized a group of youths who repeatedly chanted “one term” while Raila was addressing the crowd on the broad-based government agenda.

The chants, he said, disrupted the meeting and undermined the seriousness of the message Raila was trying to convey.
The senator noted that the incident deeply frustrated Raila, who viewed it as a sign of internal sabotage and lack of respect within party ranks. He added that such actions contributed to growing mistrust and divisions within ODM.
The remarks come at a time when the party is facing heightened scrutiny over leadership disagreements and its future direction. Sifuna has yet to publicly respond to Oburu’s claims, but the revelations are likely to fuel further debate among ODM supporters and political observers.
