Matiang’i Speaks On Leaving United Opposition And Joining Ruto Before 2027
Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has clarified his political position amid speculation that he could abandon the United Opposition and work with the Kenya Kwanza administration ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Matiang’i was pressed by journalists on whether he would consider joining forces with President William Ruto if approached personally. In response, the former minister firmly dismissed any such possibility, saying his political path remains aligned with the opposition.
Matiang’i, who also serves as the deputy party leader of the Jubilee Party, insisted that he is confident of securing the presidency in 2027 through the support of Kenyans and the broader United Opposition coalition.

The remarks come amid growing political realignments and speculation over potential alliances ahead of the next election cycle.
Matiang’i maintained that he remains committed to his political base and is not considering any collaboration with the ruling government.
He urged supporters to remain focused on unity and preparation for a competitive democratic process in the coming general election without distractions or speculation political commentary.
