Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has hinted at the possibility of working with leaders from the Orange Democratic Movement in a bid to unseat President William Ruto in the 2027 general election.
Speaking during a televised interview, Matiang’i described Senator Edwin Sifuna, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi as young, energetic leaders committed to political change.
He said he admires their political style and believes they represent a new wave of leadership needed in the country.

Matiang’i further indicated that he is open to joining hands with them to build a broad alliance aimed at addressing challenges facing Kenyans. He emphasized unity among opposition leaders as a key factor in strengthening their chances in the upcoming election.
According to him, collaboration between like-minded leaders such as Sifuna and his allies would help reshape Kenya’s political direction. The remarks come amid heightened political activity as leaders position themselves ahead of the highly anticipated 2027 polls.
Ruto’s allies have yet to respond to Matiang’i’s statement, but political analysts say such alliances could significantly alter the election landscape. More consultations are expected as coalition talks intensify across the political divide ahead of the 2027 general elections Kenya.
