Trans Nzoia County Governor, His Excellency George Natembeya, is making bold political moves that continue to send shockwaves across the Western region.
The outspoken governor has reiterated his mission to unite the Luhya community and has once again challenged Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula to stop using the community for their personal political survival.
Since the 2022 general election, Natembeya has openly criticized the two leaders, claiming they have failed to deliver tangible development to the Luhya people despite being in powerful positions within government.
He has urged residents across Bungoma, Kakamega, Vihiga, and Trans Nzoia to embrace new leadership that prioritizes real progress over empty promises.

In his latest declaration, Natembeya has taken the political duel directly to Wetangula’s stronghold.
According to a post on his official Facebook page, the governor today hosted Hon. Eric Wekesa, the aspirant for the Chwele–Kabuchai Ward by-election, alongside Mr. Fred Wetang’ula.

The ward is significant as it falls within Wetangula’s home base, making this endorsement a direct challenge to the Speaker’s political dominance in Bungoma County.
This morning, I hosted Hon. Eric Wekesa, the Kabuchai–Chwele MCA aspirant, in the company of Mr. Fred Wetang’ula. Our engagement was both cordial and constructive, culminating in my official declaration of Hon. Wekesa as our preferred candidate for the forthcoming by-elections. I wish him great success as he embarks on this important journey of service to the people,” Natembeya announced.
As the by-election race heats up, observers say this bold move marks the beginning of a fierce political showdown in Western Kenya. With Governor Natembeya rallying behind new leadership, the battle for the Luhya political future is clearly far from over.
