Nairobi, Kenya — The Kenyan sports fraternity is in deep mourning following the sudden passing of veteran radio presenter and legendary Swahili football commentator, Diblo Kaberia.
Kaberia, whose official name was Paul Kimani Kaberia, passed away early Sunday morning, May 24, 2026, while receiving treatment at Ruaraka Uhai Neema Hospital after a short illness.
A Voice That Defined Kenyan Football
At the time of his death, Kaberia was a prominent presenter and commentator at Radio Jambo, a subsidiary of the Radio Africa Group. Known for his infectious energy, sharp wit, and distinct voice, he commanded a massive following, transforming how local football was consumed on the airwaves.
In a heartfelt statement, Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK) President James Waindi shattered the somber news, praising Kaberia as a brilliant journalist and a cornerstone of the media community.

“Until his untimely demise, Kaberia was a vibrant Radio Presenter at Radio Jambo, where his passion for sports, infectious energy, and distinct voice resonated with millions of sports fans across the country,” Waindi stated.
Beyond the microphone, SJAK highlighted Kaberia’s active role as a cherished teammate within SJAK FC, remembering him for his camaraderie and unwavering team spirit.
Football Community Pays Tribute
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) also joined the nation in paying tribute to the fallen icon, noting that Kaberia’s voice had become entirely synonymous with Kenyan football.
The federation acknowledged his unique ability to bring local matches to life, bridging the gap between fans and the pitch.
“We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives he touched through his remarkable work,” the FKF stated.
Kaberia’s sudden departure leaves a massive void in sports broadcasting, but his legacy as a passionate storyteller of Kenyan football will live on.
