KILIFI, KENYA — A major security scare unfolded in Ganze, Kilifi County, after an unidentified man breached elite security barriers and charged directly toward President William Ruto during a live presidential address.
The President, who is currently on a high-profile development tour of the Coast region, was forced to briefly halt his speech when the determined citizen bypassed multiple layers of the Presidential Security Unit guarding the main dais.
“Wacha akae hapo. Wacha arelax, tutakutana na wewe,” President Ruto was heard telling his anxious security detail.

As he reached the podium, the President’s bodyguards and Aide-de-Camp (ADC) acted swiftly, springing into action to intercept and restrain him.
Defusing the escalating tension, President Ruto intervened directly, instructing his elite bodyguards to step down and treat the man gently.
Thanks to the Head of State’s calm demeanor, he was ultimately able to grant the young man an opportunity to speak with him briefly before the security detail escorted him aside.
