Kakamega County Senator Boni Khalwale has been very active in politics for a long time. He shelved his ambition to vie for Kakamega County gubernatorial seat in 2022.
But this time around, he has made it clear that come rain come sunshine, nothiyis going to stop him from realizing his ambition.
Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has officially declared his intention to vie for the Kakamega County gubernatorial seat in the upcoming General Election.
Realigning his local political strategy, Khalwale confirmed that he will step aside from his previous ambitions under his initial political vehicle and instead contest the county’s top seat using the upcoming political party associated with Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna.
The announcement highlights shifting alliances in Western Kenya following Sifuna’s departure from the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), where he previously served as Secretary General.
Having been formally removed from his leadership role within ODM following months of internal legal and organizational disputes, Sifuna has taken steps to build a fresh political platform to spearhead his political movement.
Sifuna is expected to officially roll out his new party in the coming weeks after securing approval for the alignment of political allies under his broader reform initiative.
Khalwale’s decision to join forces with Sifuna underscores a growing coalition among Western region politicians seeking a unified front.
By aligning with the former ODM Secretary General, Khalwale aims to build a formidable political network capable of consolidating support across Kakamega and the wider Western region.
Khalwale revealed that leaders within his political circle unanimously endorsed Sifuna as their preferred figurehead, giving him the mandate to establish the political party structure that will carry their shared ambitions.
As political realignments intensify ahead of the next electoral cycle, the expected official launch of Sifuna’s party is poised to alter regional dynamics.
Khalwale’s early commitment to the upcoming outfit sets the stage for a high-stakes battle for the governorship of Kakamega County, positioning Sifuna’s emerging political machine as a central player in Western Kenya politics.
