Gachagua Set to Conclude High-Profile Wamunyoro Political Conclave
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has officially announced the conclusion of his intensive political retreat at his rural residence in Wamunyoro, Nyeri County.
Taking to his social media channels, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader revealed that the marathon 55-day consultation period will draw to a close on Monday, August 24, 2026.
The announcement marks the end of an extraordinary political pilgrimage that saw his private Mathira home transformed into an active opposition command center.
Over the past nearly two months, Gachagua hosted thousands of political leaders, delegates, and opinion shapers from across the country as regional factions sought endorsements ahead of the 2027 General Elections.

Ahead of the official closure, Gachagua hosted a massive thanksgiving gathering for his local village neighbors, sharing a meal to appreciate their hospitality and security support throughout the extended conclave.
Addressing the community, he detailed the high-level deliberations held at the residence and credited the neighbors for their pivotal role in managing logistics, directing delegates, and maintaining order around the compound.
The Wamunyoro sessions initially began as a 45-day retreat to build a united opposition front and consolidate Mount Kenya’s political trajectory following his exit from power.
However, the retreat was extended past the 50-day mark due to an influx of delegations—including recent high-profile meetings with leaders from the Wiper Patriotic Front.
With the closing date locked in, attention now shifts to Gachagua’s next move as he prepares to transition from home-based consultations to nationwide opposition strategy.
