The structural disaster occurred on Tuesday evening, leaving several people feared trapped underneath piles of concrete and twisted metal. Large crowds gathered around the site as local rescue teams and county disaster response units intensified search-and-rescue operations beneath the rubble.

- July 23: A residential building collapsed in Jacaranda, Nairobi, resulting in three fatalities and multiple injuries.
- April 8: A construction site in Kibera collapsed due to severe structural defects, killing one person.

Industry watchdogs, including the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) and the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK), have warned that reckless development and non-compliant structures pose an immediate hazard to public safety. Investigations led by the National Construction Authority (NCA) point toward recurring structural neglect, unauthorized floor additions, and inadequate material testing.
