Hon Kalonzo will be seeking to unseat incumbent President Dr William Samoei Arap Ruto who is facing a lot of resistance from unsatisfied Kenyans.
Wiper Patriotic Front spokesperson Ndegwa Njiru has dismissed rumors of potential reconciliation between party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and President William Ruto, confirming that the opposition remains firmly focused on removing the current administration from power.
Addressing ongoing speculation surrounding covert negotiations or political arrangements ahead of the 2027 General Election, Njiru stated that the former Vice President has no interest in cooperating with the executive.
He emphasized that Kalonzo is fully committed to the broader united opposition movement, which seeks to present a consolidated front capable of defeating the ruling party in the upcoming presidential race.
According to the spokesperson, the Wiper leader is acting selflessly and stands ready to back whichever candidate the united opposition alliance eventually settles upon as its flagbearer, placing national interest above personal political ambition.
Njiru reaffirmed that there are no deals, informal agreements, or backchannel discussions taking place between the opposition leader and the head of state.
He noted that Kalonzo will not entertain any executive offers or government appointments, maintaining an independent political trajectory until the country goes to the polls.
Responding to claims that the opposition is fragmented, the spokesperson maintained that key political parties are coordinating closely to ensure a single, strong challenger faces the President.
Refusing any possibility of a pre-election truce, Njiru made it clear that Kalonzo will only encounter the President at the official contest on the ballot paper.
He stressed that the coalition’s primary mission is to hold the government accountable for its governance record and provide a alternative leadership vision for the electorate.
