Tension Escalates as Sifuna Defies Kaluma’s Warning to Storm Homa Bay Town
Nairobi County Senator Edwin Sifuna has raised political heat in Nyanza after making a grand entry into Homa Bay Town, directly defying stern warnings issued by area Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma.
The standoff stems from Kaluma’s earlier warning instructing opposition leaders critical of President William Ruto to keep off the region.
Kaluma argued that politicians opposing the Head of State had no moral right to traverse the county while using infrastructure funded by the national government.
Despite the threats, roadblocks, and reports of organized groups attempting to block access to the town, Sifuna successfully made his way into Homa Bay under the cover of night ahead of his scheduled rallies.

Taking to his official social media platforms to confirm his arrival, Sifuna expressed gratitude to the local residents for their unwavering support and warm reception despite organized resistance.
“📍Homa Bay town. Poleni tumeingia usiku but hatungekosa kufika,” Sifuna posted on Facebook.
The statement translates to an apology for his late-night arrival, while maintaining that missing the visit was never an option.
Addressing supporters during his visit, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General dismissed attempts by pro-government factions to intimidate opposition figures.
Sifuna insisted that public infrastructure belongs to Kenyan taxpayers rather than political figures, asserting his constitutional right to visit any region of the country.
The defiant move has triggered widespread political reactions, signaling intensifying squabbles over regional dominance and political allegiances within Homa Bay County.
