In his message, President Ruto stated, “On behalf of the people and government of the Republic of Kenya, I wish to add my voice to those condemning the recent attempted assassination of former U.S. President Donald J. Trump.
I extend my deepest sympathies to President Trump, his family, and the families of the victims of this shocking, heinous act. In these troubling times, I take this opportunity to recommit to the democratic ideals we share with the people of the United States of America.

Social media users highlighted ongoing issues within Kenya, particularly the recent spate of police brutality during anti-government protests that began a few weeks ago.
Several Kenyans have been shot dead in these protests, fueling public anger and demands for accountability.
One user commented, “Instead of addressing the violence and police brutality in our own country, our President is busy sending sympathies to a foreign leader. This is unacceptable.”
Another wrote, “Mr. President, stop police brutality at home before praying for foreigners.” The criticism underscores a growing discontent among Kenyans who feel that their leaders are not adequately addressing domestic issues.
