In a major political gathering in Bondo, Wiper Patriotic Front party leader Kalonzo Musyoka issued a firm declaration regarding the preservation of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s political legacy.
Speaking while in Siaya, the opposition leader declared that having stood beside the late ODM chief through three major political cycles, he remains fully committed to defending the vision and principles they championed together.
Addressing the people of Bondo Town and the wider Nyanza region, Musyoka reflected on the long-standing political partnership he shared with the veteran leader.
He emphasized that his decision to align with the former Prime Minister across multiple election seasons was driven by a deep belief in a shared reform agenda for the nation.
He warned against ongoing political attempts to undermine or alter that historical record, asserting that he would not passively watch as the foundational achievements of the reform movement are diluted.
Pushing back against characterizations from the current administration under President William Ruto, Musyoka rejected claims framing the late leader as a state-sponsored political tool.
He maintained that the opposition figure commanded an independent and formidable force in national politics, arguing that electoral malpractices were the sole barrier that prevented him from attaining the presidency.
According to Musyoka, the democratic crusade carried forward the historic struggle for freedom and justice originally initiated by Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.
He highlighted devolution as one of the most transformative achievements of that political era, calling for its continuous protection and strengthening as a pillar of national governance.
Expressing gratitude to the residents of Siaya County for their warm reception, Musyoka reaffirmed that the political journey to safeguard democratic institutions and constitutional governance continues in unity with the region.
