For the last over 35 years. Uganda has only seen one President, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. While coming to power after toppling Idd Amin Dada, Museveni promised not to clinch to power once elected president.
Well, that is in the past now as he has been around for sometime now raising questions on him keeping his word.
Few days ago, he declared his intention of retaining the presidency in 2026 general election. Something that has elicited mixed reaction online. According to General Muhoozi who is Museveni son, it is not going to be possible for a civilian to lead Uganda at any given point. After Museveni is done, he has alleged that other leaders must come from either police or military.
“No civilian will lead Uganda after President Museveni. The security forces will not allow it. The next leader will be a soldier or policeman.” Posted Museveni son.

“Now some ‘low-life’ foreign journalists are going to write op-eds in their Western papers saying ‘Museveni’s Son a Threat to Ugandan Democracy’. Egged on no doubt by internal and foreign enemies who want to enslave our country again. When we were fighting for Ugandan freedom in Teso, Lango, Bundibugyo, Garamba, Mogadishu, Juba and Bor those ‘fake lovers’ of Uganda were nowhere to be seen. Back then for them it wouldn’t have mattered if our impoverished country was destroyed forever. Now they perceive that there is profit to be made from our now prosperous nation. Fellow Ugandans, resisting the imperialists is a patriotic duty!” Posted Muhoozi.
Bobi Wine Fight To Topple Museveni.
Singer Bobi Wine gave President Museveni and his team a run of their money. He surprised many by getting huge Votes in last general election despite being arrested on various occasions. Will he ever get a chance to lead with Museveni’s declaration? Time will tell.
