The family of the late Orange Democratic Party leader and former Prime Minister, Hon. Raila Odinga, has once again been plunged into deep mourning, barely a month after laying him to rest.
Raila Odinga passed away on October 15, 2025, and was buried at his rural home in Kang’o Kajaramogi, Siaya County. Since then, thousands of Kenyans have continued to visit the homestead to pay their last respects to the influential statesman whose political legacy shaped generations.
However, new grief has struck the Odinga family following the passing of Raila’s sister, Beryl Achieng Odinga, who died while receiving treatment at a Nairobi hospital.
According to a family source who spoke to The Star, Beryl breathed her last on Monday after a period of illness.“She died today at a Nairobi hospital where she had been admitted,” the source confirmed, speaking on phone.

Beryl, the youngest in the Odinga family, was known for maintaining a notably low public profile despite her family’s towering presence in Kenya’s political landscape.
Unlike some of her siblings, she kept away from electoral politics but remained active in professional and administrative circles.
Her career earned her recognition both locally and internationally. She made history as the first Black Town Clerk of Mutare, Zimbabwe’s third-largest city. Her
Her administrative acumen later saw her appointed in 2020 as the Chairperson of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company (NWSC), where she oversaw key reforms and service-delivery improvements. Despite her quiet lifestyle, Beryl Achieng Odinga distinguished herself as a dedicated public servant and a respected professional whose contributions spanned borders.
Her death marks yet another painful loss for the Odinga family at a time they were still mourning the passing of their patriarch.
Funeral arrangements are expected to be communicated by the family in the coming days.
