Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has continued to bolster his growing political outfit, the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), after receiving another high-profile leader into the party ranks.
This latest development comes barely a day after a successful political event held in Kiambu County on April 20, 2026, signaling what observers describe as an aggressive expansion strategy.
In a statement shared عبر his social media platforms, Gachagua confirmed the entry of Hon. Karanja Ka-waithira, a leadership and governance expert with prior political experience.
Ka-waithira previously contested the Laikipia West Constituency parliamentary seat under the NARC–Kenya ticket but is now aligning himself with DCP ahead of the next electoral cycle.
“Today, I had the pleasure of welcoming Hon. Karanja Ka-waithira to the DCP Party,” Gachagua stated, adding that the new entrant joins a growing list of aspirants positioning themselves within the party.

Gachagua further assured Ka-waithira and other hopefuls that the party is committed to transparency and fairness in its nomination processes. “You are in the right place. Party nominations will be conducted in a free and fair manner at all levels,” he emphasized.
The former Deputy President reiterated that DCP’s appeal lies in its people-centered approach, noting that the party continues to attract a diverse range of leaders from across the country.
He maintained that the movement is driven by a commitment to serve citizens according to their wishes and aspirations.
Political analysts view this latest recruitment as part of Gachagua’s broader strategy to consolidate influence, particularly in vote-rich regions such as Kiambu, where competition for the gubernatorial seat remains intense.
The entry of seasoned aspirants like Ka-waithira is expected to further shape the political dynamics in the region ahead of the next general election.
