Fresh drama has rocked the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) following a public exchange between the party’s National Chairperson, Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga, and political mobilizer Oketch Sella.
On February 6, 2026, Wanga issued a strongly worded statement warning Kenyans against being “duped by individuals purporting to popularize the ODM manifesto while pursuing hidden agendas.”
Although she did not name anyone directly, the statement was widely interpreted as a dismissal of ongoing grassroots activities linked to Sella, who has lately been vocal about ODM’s future direction and possible political partnerships.
In a detailed response released shortly after, Oketch Sella defended his actions, insisting that his mission has always been to strengthen and popularize ODM, not to undermine its leadership.

Sella stated that everything he has been doing has been driven by “love, loyalty, and respect for the party,” emphasizing his deep belief in ODM’s history and values.
Sella went on to issue an apology to Chairlady Wanga, saying that if his actions had caused her discomfort, it was never his intention. However, he maintained that ODM urgently needs re-energizing and refreshing to remain a living movement that inspires and connects with grassroots supporters across the country.
Addressing concerns about funding and alleged hidden interests, Sella clarified that all activities he has undertaken were financed using his personal resources.
He stressed that he has neither requested nor used ODM party funds, describing his efforts as a personal contribution to a party he loves and respects.
Perhaps most emotionally, Sella anchored his loyalty to the legacy of the late ODM leader Raila Odinga. He revealed that he had made a personal promise to Raila to stand with ODM, a commitment he says continues to guide his actions.
“I remain ODM,” Sella concluded, reaffirming that his allegiance to the party is unwavering and rooted in honoring Raila Odinga’s legacy, even as internal debates over ODM’s future intensify.
