Cabinet Secretary Geoffrey Ruku offered a strong endorsement of Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, praising his track record and signalling confidence in his political future beyond the current term.
Speaking during a public function, Ruku said Kindiki had exceeded expectations in his role, describing him as focused, diligent and results-driven.

According to the CS, the Deputy President has demonstrated firm leadership in coordinating government programmes and supporting the agenda of President William Ruto.

Ruku argued that Kindiki’s stewardship has strengthened the administration’s delivery framework, particularly in matters of security, economic recovery and implementation of key national projects.

He noted that Kenyans had initially set high expectations for the Deputy President but that his performance had surpassed those benchmarks.

Leadership is measured by action and consistency,” Ruku said, adding that Kindiki had shown discipline and commitment in executing his mandate.

The CS further stated that continuity in leadership would be critical for sustaining ongoing reforms and development initiatives.

While Kenya’s next general election is still some time away, political alignments and endorsements have increasingly begun shaping early conversations around 2027.

Ruku’s remarks are likely to fuel debate within political circles, especially as different factions position themselves for future contests. However, he maintained that his comments were rooted in performance evaluation rather than political maneuvering.

Analysts note that endorsements from Cabinet Secretaries often signal broader strategic calculations within government, particularly when directed at senior figures such as the Deputy President.

Kindiki, who has maintained a relatively measured public posture, has consistently emphasised service delivery and unity within the ruling coalition.

The Deputy President has in recent months toured several counties, highlighting infrastructure projects, agricultural reforms and security stabilisation efforts.

His supporters argue that his technocratic background and administrative approach have strengthened institutional coordination.

Ruku called on leaders to rally behind what he described as effective leadership, saying political stability would help sustain investor confidence and economic growth.

As the political landscape gradually shifts toward the next electoral cycle, statements such as Ruku’s underscore the subtle but growing contest of narratives within government ranks.

Whether these endorsements translate into broader political momentum remains to be seen, but they signal that conversations about leadership beyond 2027 are steadily gaining ground
