Chaos as Bishop Lectures Oburu Odinga, ODM Team at Funeral; Youths Chant ‘One Term!’
NYANDO — What was meant to be a solemn send-off for the late mother of Nyando Member of Parliament, Hon. Jared Okello, quickly degenerated into a fiery political showdown.
The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leadership, led by Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga, found themselves on the receiving end of public wrath as both the clergy and local youth turned the event into a referendum on their leadership.
The tension, which had been simmering throughout the service, boiled over when the ODM delegation rose to speak. Restless youths in attendance began heckling the leaders, interrupting speeches with thunderous chants of “One term! One term!” aimed at non-performing elected officials.
Attempting to restore order, the presiding Bishop took the microphone. However, instead of calming the crowd, the bold and determined man of God turned his gaze toward Oburu Odinga and the shaken ODM team, delivering a scathing lecture that left the politicians stunned.

“These youths are not heckling out of malice,” the Bishop declared, his voice echoing through the PA system. “They are demanding accountability from leaders who have abandoned them. You have sidelined the people who elected you, and lately, you are only pushing your own selfish political agendas.”
The Bishop’s fierce remarks drew wild cheers from the congregation, further energizing the youth who continued their chants. The cleric did not mince his words, demanding a complete shift in priorities from the region’s political elite.
The man of God concluded his fiery address with a stern warning, telling the politicians to immediately stop activating premature campaign modes and instead focus on delivering tangible development to the region.
The ODM team, visibly caught off guard by the hostile reception, had to cut their speeches short in an event that signals a rising, unapologetic wave of political defiance among the youth.
