Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has once again found himself at the center of online discussion after a video emerged showing him at a local shop in Kisii County shortly after addressing a political rally.
Gachagua, who is touring the region alongside key figures in the United opposition, including former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, had earlier attended rallies in Nyamira and Kisii counties.
The leaders have been popularizing their “one term” message, rallying residents to support their push ahead of the 2027 General Election.
However, it is what happened after the rally that has sparked widespread reactions online.
In a video that has since gone viral, Gachagua is seen walking into a local chemist in Kisii town. The former Deputy President appears calm as he presents a prescription to the pharmacist, who then proceeds to dispense the prescribed medication. The brief clip shows no signs of distress, but its circulation on social media has triggered speculation.

Some Kenyans online questioned whether the outspoken politician could be unwell, while others dismissed the claims, arguing that he may simply have been experiencing fatigue after a long day of back-to-back political engagements. Political rallies are often physically demanding, involving long speeches, travel, and extended interaction with supporters.
Neither Gachagua nor his communication team has issued a statement regarding the incident. Close allies, however, have downplayed the matter, saying there is nothing unusual about a leader purchasing medication when necessary.
The video continues to draw mixed reactions, with supporters urging the public to respect his privacy, while critics use the moment to advance political narratives.
For now, the former Deputy President remains active in his Kisii and Nyamira tour, signaling that the opposition’s campaign activities remain firmly on course.
