Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has stirred mixed reactions after offering an instant government appointment during a campaign stop in Malava Constituency.
The move, captured in a viral video, shows Mudavadi announcing the appointment of Ryan Injendi, son of the late Malava MP Malulu Injendi, as Kenya’s new Trade Attaché to the Republic of South Africa.
The announcement, made just days before a crucial by-election, was intended to demonstrate the government’s commitment to efficient service delivery and youth empowerment.
However, a section of Kenyans has criticized the timing, questioning why such swift action appears to occur mainly during campaign periods rather than in normal governance cycles.

Ryan Injendi, in an acceptance statement, expressed gratitude to President William Ruto, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, and the government for the opportunity.
He described the appointment as a “significant milestone,” pledging to work diligently to advance Kenya’s trade interests in South Africa. He also thanked the people of Malava for their unwavering support.
The incident has since sparked debate on social media, with some praising the government for recognizing young leaders, while others accuse political leaders of using government appointments as campaign tools.
