Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka is facing renewed political pressure in Ukambani following a high-profile defection that could shake his influence in the region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Former State House Chief of Staff Nzioka Waita has officially ditched the Wiper Democratic Movement and joined the ruling United Democratic Alliance.
Waita cited frustrations within Wiper, accusing Kalonzo’s inner circle of sidelining him in the race for the Machakos gubernatorial seat.
According to Waita, the party had allegedly predetermined its preferred candidate, effectively locking him out despite his interest in contesting.
