Nominated Member of Parliament Sabina Chege has broken her silence following sharp remarks by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua directed at President William Ruto during a recent event in Ol Kalou, Nyandarua County.

Gachagua, speaking to residents, openly criticized President Ruto, alleging that he is being misled about the political mood in the Mount Kenya region.

He singled out Kikuyu Member of Parliament Kimani Ichung’wah, accusing him of giving the Head of State inaccurate information regarding public sentiment following Gachagua’s impeachment.

The former Deputy President maintained that despite his removal from office, he still enjoys strong support from his constituents and would not be intimidated.

In her response issued hours later, Sabina Chege called for restraint among leaders, urging them to prioritize unity and respect in public discourse.

While she did not directly attack Gachagua, Chege emphasized the need for leaders to avoid statements that could deepen divisions within the region.

The remarks came during a solemn occasion—the requiem mass of the late Ol Kalou MP David Njuguna Kiaraho, held at Captain Grounds in Nyandarua County.

The event brought together top national leaders, including President Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, and National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula, alongside other dignitaries and members of the public.

Chege paid tribute to the late Kiaraho, describing him as a dedicated and humble servant who left a lasting impact on his community.

She noted that the gathering was meant to honor his legacy and urged leaders to uphold the values he stood for, including unity and service to the people.

As political tensions continue to simmer in the Mount Kenya region, Chege’s remarks signal growing concern among leaders over escalating rhetoric ahead of future political contests.
