Tension gripped several Middle Eastern capitals late Friday night as residents reported loud blasts and flashes lighting up the skyline. Emergency sirens were heard in parts of the region, while social media platforms were flooded with unverified videos showing streaks across the night sky.

Authorities urged calm but offered few immediate details. Air traffic data showed unusual patterns as aircraft diverted or turned back mid-route.

Several international carriers issued urgent advisories to passengers, citing operational reasons and heightened security concerns.

In Saudi Arabia, multiple explosions were reported in the capital, Riyadh, amid escalating hostilities between Israel and Iran.

While Saudi officials did not immediately confirm the source of the blasts, state media said air defense systems had been activated in response to aerial threats.

The incidents come as the Israel-Iran conflict intensifies, raising fears of a broader regional confrontation.

Analysts warn that key Gulf states could become increasingly vulnerable if hostilities expand beyond direct exchanges between the two longtime adversaries.

In response to the deteriorating security situation, several major international airlines announced the temporary suspension of flights to key Middle Eastern hubs.

Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, and Lufthansa confirmed they had halted services to destinations including Dubai, Doha, and other regional capitals pending further assessment.

Airlines cited passenger safety and evolving airspace restrictions as primary reasons for the suspensions.

Aviation authorities in multiple countries issued notices to airmen (NOTAMs), warning of potential risks to civilian aircraft due to military activity in parts of the Gulf airspace.

Travelers were left stranded at major transit hubs, with airport terminals in Dubai and Doha experiencing long queues as passengers sought rebooking options. Some flights already en route to the region were diverted to alternative airports in Europe or Asia.

Security experts say the ripple effects could be significant if disruptions persist. The Gulf region serves as a critical aviation crossroads linking Europe, Asia and Africa.

Extended airspace closures would likely lead to higher ticket prices, longer travel times, and logistical complications for cargo shipments.

Governments across Europe and Asia updated travel advisories, urging citizens to exercise caution and monitor official guidance.

Diplomatic efforts are reportedly underway to prevent further escalation, though no immediate breakthrough has been announced.

As uncertainty looms, residents in Riyadh and other affected cities remain on alert, with many choosing to stay indoors.

The situation remains fluid, and authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations continue into the cause and extent of the explosions.
