They say, when it rains it pours. It seems like it’s the season for Kenyan chief Justice Martha Koome. It is raining troubles for her for days now. Just few days ago, she was sued and courts were asked to relieve her off her duties.
She was accused of mishandling a case involving senior Counsel Ahmednasir. Lawyers representing the petitioner argued that she is incompetent for embarrassing the courts with her decision.
The decision she made was to block Ahmednasir from appearing for any client at supreme court of Kenya. Her decision was challenged at high court hence bringing confusion on which court is superior.
She was also sued for gross violation of the constitution by siting and making a decision in a case involving her. She was part of the team that made a decision to block Ahmednasir for allegedly attacking her online.
Well, that aside, another person has issued new demand to her. She is accusing Chief Justice Koome for lying in her CV that she presented during vetting.
According to Koome’s presented CV during vetting. She claimed to have been vice chair of the Federation of Woman Lawyers (FIDA)between 1994-1998.
Something that a concern citizen has come out to contest. The petitioner through her lawyer has claimed she served in the same capacity as Martha Koome. She has insisted that, she is the one who did that rightfully hence Koome lied.
According to a report by Kenyans. Martha Koome has been told to correct that error on her CV or face the law. The petitioner has also Warned that the suite cost will be on Chief Justice if she fails to take action.
Martha Koome will now have to fight for her integrity over the cases that are lingering over her head. Will she survive the current turbulence? Time will tell.
