Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma has come out strongly in defense of Homa Bay Governor Gladys Wanga amid escalating political tensions in Luo Nyanza.
The latest development follows a heated exchange between Suna North MP Millie Odhiambo and Governor Wanga, which has since spilled onto online platforms.
Bloggers have accused Odhiambo of being jealous of Wanga’s rising political profile, further fueling divisions within the region.
In a strongly worded statement, Kaluma dismissed the criticism directed at the governor, attributing it to jealousy and political sabotage. “Governor Wanga is being fought by people who are jealous of her talents and success; by our enemies because she has strongly stood with Dr. Oburu for the unity of our people,” he stated.
Kaluma linked the attacks to Wanga’s alignment with Oburu Odinga and her commitment to safeguarding the legacy of Raila Odinga.

He argued that her firm stance on unity and strengthening the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has unsettled both external critics and internal dissenters.
He also pointed to development efforts in Homa Bay County, saying Wanga is steering the region away from years of neglect.
“She is standing for Baba’s legacy and for a strong ODM… and for the progress of Homa Bay County after years of neglect,” Kaluma added.
In a warning tone, Kaluma signaled that Wanga’s allies are closely monitoring the situation and are ready to act. “We are silent, but keenly watching. We will stand with her. We will destroy her enemies,” he declared.
The ongoing standoff underscores rising political tensions within ODM strongholds, raising concerns about unity as internal rivalries continue to surface.
