Newly appointed Finance Cabinet Secretary John Mbadi has sidestepped questions. He has not commented on whether he will support President William Ruto in the 2027 general election. Mbadi is a veteran politician from the opposition party ODM. He was recently appointed to the Finance docket by President Ruto. This has sparked widespread speculation about his future political allegiances.
In an interview with Citizen TV, Mbadi was asked directly about his political stance ahead of the next election.
However, he avoided giving a definitive answer, instead urging Kenyans to allow him time to concentrate on his new role.

Mbadi hinted that his political career might be winding down. He has served in various public roles for over two decades.
“Maybe after this, I will retire at home after serving the public for 20 years,” he said. He suggested that his current appointment could be his last stint in government. His remarks come at a time when political realignments are beginning to take shape ahead of the 2027 elections.
However, Mbadi’s comments suggest that he remains committed to his duties in the Finance Ministry. At least for now, his political future remains open to speculation.
