Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is expected to join family, friends, and political leaders at the Africa Gospel Church in Karen for the requiem mass of the late Emurua Dikirr MP Johana Ngeno.

The solemn service will officially mark the beginning of the funeral programme for the outspoken legislator, whose sudden death in a helicopter crash in Nandi County last Saturday shocked the nation and sent waves of grief across the political landscape.

Leaders from across the political divide are expected to attend the requiem mass at Africa Gospel Church in Karen, in what is likely to be an emotional tribute to a man remembered as bold, vocal and deeply connected to his constituents.

According to family sources, the church service will set the tone for a series of events leading up to the burial in Emurua Dikirr.

It will provide an opportunity for colleagues in Parliament, local leaders, and members of the public to pay tribute to Ngeno’s life and legacy.

The late MP died following a tragic helicopter crash in Nandi County under circumstances that are still under investigation.

Authorities have launched a probe to establish the cause of the crash, as leaders continue to call for thorough investigations to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Deputy President Kindiki is expected to deliver a message of condolence from the government and President William Ruto’s administration, emphasizing unity and support for the bereaved family.

His attendance underscores the significance of the loss within government ranks and the broader political fraternity.

Ngeno, who was serving his first term as Member of Parliament for Emurua Dikirr, had built a reputation as a fierce defender of his constituents’ interests.

In Parliament, he was known for his passionate contributions and strong positions on matters affecting rural communities.

Since news of his death broke, tributes have poured in from leaders, civil society groups and residents of Emurua Dikirr, describing him as accessible, development-oriented and unafraid to speak his mind.

Social media platforms have been flooded with condolence messages and memories shared by those who interacted with him.

Security is expected to be heightened around the Karen venue, given the high profile nature of the event and the anticipated attendance of senior government officials and lawmakers.

The requiem mass is not only a moment of prayer but also a reflection on the fragility of life and the risks often faced by leaders traveling across the country in the line of duty.

As the nation gathers to mourn, attention now shifts to the funeral arrangements that will culminate in his final send-off later this week.
