A fresh political storm is brewing following the emergence of a video in which Oburu Odinga boldly declares himself the presidential candidate ahead of the 2027 General Election, catching many Kenyans by surprise.
In the widely circulated clip, Oburu is heard insisting that, according to the party constitution of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), the party leader automatically becomes its presidential flag bearer.
He further warned any aspirants eyeing the presidency through ODM to consider seeking alternative political parties, a statement that has since sparked heated reactions across the political divide.
The development comes at a time when the country is already gearing up for what is expected to be a highly competitive race. Incumbent President William Ruto is widely anticipated to seek a second term, with his allies intensifying grassroots mobilization across the country.
