Farouk Kibet has finally declared his political ambitions ahead of the 2027 General Election, signaling what many see as a shift from behind-the-scenes influence to frontline politics.
The long-serving aide to President William Ruto announced that he will be vying for the Turbo Constituency parliamentary seat.
Kibet made the revelation during a visit by members of the Muslim community to his home in Chepsaita for iftar. Addressing the faithful at length, the outspoken political figure said the time had come for him to seek an elective position that directly shapes legislation and development priorities.
“I have supported leadership from behind the curtain for many years. Now it is time to step forward and serve the people directly,” Kibet said, drawing applause from those in attendance.

During his speech, he focused heavily on the needs of the Muslim community in Turbo Constituency.
He pledged to spearhead the construction of mosques and madrasas to strengthen religious education and provide better spaces for worship. He also promised to push for development projects aimed at improving infrastructure, education, and economic opportunities for residents.
Kibet emphasized unity and inclusivity, noting that leadership should serve all communities regardless of faith or background. Political observers say his declaration could significantly reshape the political landscape in Turbo, given his close ties to powerful figures within government.
As the 2027 race begins to take shape, Kibet’s entry sets the stage for what is expected to be a highly competitive contest in the constituency.
