Activist Fredrick Bikeri Sues DP Gachagua Over Remarks Against NIS Boss Noordin Haji.

Activist Fredrick Bikeri has filed a lawsuit against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over controversial statements made against the National Intelligence Service (NIS) boss, Noordin Haji.

Bikeri claims that Gachagua’s remarks were untruthful, inciting, and unlawful.

Speaking at a public event in Mombasa, DP Gachagua accused Haji of providing incorrect information to President William Ruto regarding the 2024 finance bill.

According to Gachagua, this misinformation led the President to make uninformed decisions, sparking widespread protests across the nation.

“The allegations made by the Deputy President are not only false but also highly inflammatory,” Bikeri stated in his suit.

“Such comments undermine the integrity of our national institutions and incite public unrest.

“The remarks by Gachagua have triggered a significant public response, with protests erupting in various parts of the country.

For the past week, Kenyans have taken to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of the finance bill.

The demonstrations have been particularly intense in Nairobi, where protesters breached the Parliament building, forcing Members of Parliament to seek refuge in underground tunnels.

The protests have brought parts of Nairobi to a standstill, with businesses closing and transportation being disrupted.

The demonstrators are calling for accountability and transparency from the government, and many have voiced their support for NIS boss Haji, viewing him as a scapegoat for broader issues within the administration.

Bikeri’s lawsuit seeks to hold Gachagua accountable for his statements, which he argues have exacerbated tensions and undermined trust in public institutions.

The activist is calling for a public apology from the Deputy President and for measures to be put in place to prevent similar incidents in the future.

As the legal battle unfolds, the nation watches closely, with many hoping for a resolution that will restore calm and confidence in the country’s leadership and its institutions.
