Oscar Sudi Demands Immediate Arrest of Rigathi Gachagua Over Alleged Incitement
NAIROBI, Kenya
Tensions in the political arena have escalated following strong demands by Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi for the immediate arrest of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua over alleged incendiary remarks.
In a video posted on his official Facebook page, an visibly agitated Sudi questioned why law enforcement agencies and Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen have yet to take Gachagua into custody despite what he termed as continuous public incitement.
According to Sudi, the former Deputy President’s recent political rhetoric is increasingly polarizing and poses a direct threat to national security.
The Kapseret lawmaker warned that if left unchecked, Gachagua’s utterances risk plunging the nation back into ethnic conflict and political violence reminiscent of the devastating 2007 post-election clashes.

“Why is Gachagua still walking free?” Sudi questioned in the video. He argued that the government must act swiftly to enforce the law equally, urging CS Murkomen to instruct police officers to apprehend the former Deputy President before his rhetoric triggers widespread unrest.
The demand comes amid an intensifying feud between Gachagua and key administration figures.
Security agencies have recently come under pressure to monitor inflammatory political utterances across the country, particularly those that utilize divisive profiling and ethnic rhetoric.
Gachagua, who has previously dismissed threats of arrest from government officials, maintains that his political statements are intended to advocate for his supporters rather than incite violence.
However, Sudi insists that accountability is essential to preserve peace and prevent history from repeating itself.
As public reaction to Sudi’s video grows, all eyes now turn to Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen and law enforcement bodies to see whether legal action will be taken against the former Deputy President.
