A fresh political storm is brewing around Edwin Sifuna following a stern warning from a Kisumu County leader over his continued push for the “Linda Mwanainchi” rallies.
In a video that has since circulated widely, the outspoken Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General is cautioned about the possible consequences of maintaining his hardline stance against the government.
Sifuna has in recent months intensified his criticism of President William Ruto, repeatedly branding him a one-term leader while mobilizing support through grassroots engagements.
Sifuna insists that his “Linda Mwanainchi” initiative is rooted in the ideals of the late Raila Odinga, positioning himself as a defender of ordinary citizens.
However, his approach appears to be deepening divisions within ODM, especially with the emergence of a rival faction led by Gladys Wanga and Oburu Odinga.

The Kisumu leader, speaking candidly, claimed that Sifuna is being “used by powerful individuals” to wage political battles against the current administration.
She warned that such backing may not last, predicting that the Nairobi Senator could eventually be abandoned by those allegedly pulling the strings behind the scenes.
“Politics can be very unforgiving. Today they cheer you on, tomorrow they leave you exposed,” she cautioned, urging Sifuna to reconsider his strategy.
She further advised him to align himself with the government, arguing that cooperation with the ruling administration would better safeguard his political future.
According to her, continued confrontation could isolate him and weaken his influence both within the party and nationally.
Despite the warning, Sifuna has remained defiant, maintaining that his loyalty lies with the people and not political convenience.
As tensions escalate, all eyes are now on how this standoff will shape ODM’s internal dynamics and the broader political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
