The Secretary General of the Orange Democratic Movement, Edwin Sifuna, has intensified his push for electoral reforms ahead of the 2027 General Election, issuing fresh demands to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
Speaking on the floor of the Senate, Sifuna called on the electoral commission to address growing concerns around voter registration irregularities and rising cases of political intolerance across the country.
His remarks come amid increasing political activity as leaders begin positioning themselves for the next election cycle.
Sifuna, who has been traversing the country through his “Linda Mwananchi” initiative rallies, urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and actively participate in safeguarding democracy. He emphasized that electoral transparency and security are critical pillars that must not be compromised.

In a strongly worded statement, the Nairobi Senator demanded immediate action from the IEBC. “IEBC must come clean on the anomalies in voter registration; transparency is not optional.
And Kenya must guarantee political tolerance: every leader has the right to move freely without fear or intimidation. Democracy demands nothing less,” he stated.
The senator also condemned incidents where politicians have reportedly been attacked by hired goons during public engagements.
He insisted that those responsible must be investigated and prosecuted to deter further violence. According to Sifuna, failure to address such issues could undermine public confidence in the electoral process.
Political analysts view Sifuna’s stance as part of a broader strategy to shape the national conversation ahead of 2027. His outspoken approach has increasingly positioned him as a key voice within opposition politics.
As pressure mounts on the IEBC to respond, Kenyans now await concrete steps from the commission to address the concerns raised, with the credibility of the upcoming elections already under scrutiny.
