Sifuna Warned: How Senator is Reportedly Losing Nairobi Ground Ahead of 2027
NAIROBI, Kenya — Nairobi County Senator Edwin Sifuna has been served a sharp political warning over his regular absences from the capital, with critics claiming he is slowly losing his grip on the city’s electorate ahead of the 2027 General Election.
Senator Sifuna has recently been traversing the country alongside key leaders allied with the Linda Mwananchi initiative.
Flanked by Siaya Governor James Orengo, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino, and Kabuchai lawmaker Majimbo Kalasinga, the team has been rallying citizens nationwide, urging Kenyans to vote out the current administration in favor of a leader with a progressive vision for the nation.
However, while Sifuna focuses heavily on this national political platform, local leaders argue that his absence is costing him dearly at home.
Speaking at a public event in Nairobi in a newly surfaced video, Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu explicitly claimed that Sifuna is systematically disconnecting from the Nairobi grassroots.
According to Nyamu, Sifuna’s biggest undoing is his perceived failure to offer direct financial contributions and tangible support to residents during challenging economic times.
“Senator Sifuna is losing the Nairobi ground because he fails to send his contributions or show up for the residents when they are going through hard times,” Nyamu claimed in the video.

Nyamu went a step further to contrast Sifuna’s leadership style with that of Lang’ata Member of Parliament, Phelix Odiwuor, popularly known as Jalang’o.
She asserted that Jalang’o—who is widely touted to be eyeing Sifuna’s Senate seat—has remained consistently available to assist locals in their times of need, positioning him as a more suitable and empathetic representative for Nairobi.
As the battle for the capital intensifies, Sifuna faces the growing challenge of balancing his high-profile national campaign with the micro-politics of Kenya’s most populous county.
