Ruto Breaks Silence, Sends Powerful Message to Ol-Kalou MP-Elect Sammy Ngotho After Defeating UDA Machinery
In a significant political shift, the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) suffered a resounding defeat in the Ol-Kalou parliamentary by-election. Sammy Douglas Kamau Waweru Ngotho of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) clinched a landslide victory, securing 35,440 votes against UDA candidate Samuel Muchina Nyaga, who managed just 5,450 votes.
The Defiance of Ol-Kalou
The heavy defeat for the ruling party came despite intensive campaigning and the distribution of development goodies, including subsidized cooking gas cylinders and developmental promises, designed to win over the electorate.
However, the residents of Ol-Kalou defied the UDA machinery, overwhelmingly choosing the DCP candidate instead.
Ruto’s Message to the MP-Elect
Speaking from State House following the official declaration of the results, President William Ruto broke his silence on the loss and extended a special message to Hon. Ngotho.

Rather than dwelling on the campaign loss, the President took a reconciliatory tone, urging the newly elected MP to transition immediately from active campaigning to leadership.
President Ruto emphasized that the season of high-octane politics in Ol-Kalou has concluded.
“It is now time for the newly elected Ol-Kalou Member of Parliament to focus on working for the people instead of engaging in too much politics,” President Ruto stated.
The Head of State maintained that the electorate’s expectations are higher than ever, reminding Hon. Ngotho that Kenyans will ultimately judge his leadership based on his development track record and the tangible work he delivers for his community, rather than his political rhetoric.
The Ol-Kalou by-election, occasioned by the death of the long-serving lawmaker David Kiaraho, is widely viewed as a critical political litmus test. With the dust now settling, all eyes remain on Hon. Ngotho as he officially takes up his legislative duties.
