RUTO’S CAMP IN PANIC AS OL-KALOU YOUTHS REJECT GAS CYLINDERS AHEAD OF TIGHT BY-ELECTION
OL-KALOU, KENYA — President William Ruto and his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party have suffered a major political blow in Ol-Kalou just days before the highly anticipated parliamentary by-election.
This comes after local youths publicly rejected state-sponsored handouts, dealing a severe setback to the ruling coalition’s aggressive campaign trail.
For the past few months, top Kenya Kwanza heavyweights have pitched tent in Nyandarua County, deploying massive resources to secure a victory for UDA flagbearer Samuel Muchina.
In a recent bid to win over voters, the government launched a massive distribution drive, supplying thousands of subsidized Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders to local residents.

However, the political charm offensive backfired spectacularly. In a video that has gone viral across social media platforms, a large group of vocal youths in Ol-Kalou town openly rejected the gas cylinders, terming them an outright attempt at voter bribery.
Chanting slogans in defiance, the enraged youths declared that they would not exchange their democratic rights for state “goodies.” Instead, they vowed to cast their ballots overwhelmingly for Sammy Ngotho, the candidate flying the flag of the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP).
The locals made it clear that their allegiance lies firmly with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua. According to the youth leaders, the upcoming by-election is no longer a standard parliamentary race, but a referendum on the government’s treatment of Mt. Kenya leaders.
“We are taking the gas, but our votes belong to DCP. We want to stand with Gachagua and teach this administration a lesson they will never forget at the ballot box,” one of the youth leaders declared in the viral clip.
With the ground fast shifting, the UDA camp faces an uphill task to reclaim control of the region ahead of next week’s vote.
