Twist in Cecil Ouma Death: PS Fikirini’s Lawyers Drop Self-Defense Bombshell
NAIROBI, Kenya — A dramatic twist has emerged in the investigation into the fatal shooting of youth activist and political mobilizer Cecil Ouma, following explosive claims made by the defense team representing Youth Affairs Principal Secretary, Honorable Fikirini Jacobs.
The 28-year-old civil engineering student was killed shortly after attending a youth consultative meeting in Kariokor chaired by PS Jacobs.
Early accounts and unverified videos circulating on social media alleged that Ouma was shot inside the Principal Secretary’s official vehicle before his body was dumped along Park Road.
However, high-profile defense lawyers Dunstan Omari and Clifford Ombeta have fiercely countered this narrative, dropping a bombshell revelation that flips the script on the tragic incident.
Addressing the press, Omari stated that the bodyguard attached to PS Fikirini acted strictly in self-defense during an aggressive confrontation.

According to the defense team, Ouma allegedly led a group that rushed toward the PS’s vehicle following a disagreement. Omari claimed that the late activist went as far as grabbing PS Fikirini Jacobs by the neck, demanding additional money that had not been part of their prior agreement.
The lawyers also explicitly dismissed allegations that the shooting occurred inside the vehicle. Omari insisted that the fatal shots were fired outside the car as the bodyguard moved to protect the state official from an imminent physical assault.
As public outcry grows and the family demands justice for what they term as excessive force, detectives are analyzing forensic evidence from the vehicle and reviewing statements from seven individuals, including PS Fikirini himself. The dynamic claims from the legal team introduce a complex layer to a case that continues to grip the nation.
