Former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i has sent a strong political signal after making a high-profile appearance in the Mount Kenya region alongside former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
The duo’s entry into Murang’a County, captured in a video that has since gone viral, has sparked excitement and fresh debate over the 2027 presidential race.
In the footage, Matiang’i is seen emerging confidently from a motorcade dressed in full Jubilee Party regalia as crowds cheer and wave. Residents turned out in large numbers, lining the roads and gathering at Muthithi Shopping Centre to catch a glimpse of the former powerful minister.

Gachagua, who took the microphone, formally introduced Matiang’i to the crowd, describing him as a leader capable of steering the country in a new direction. He urged Mount Kenya voters to rally behind the opposition and vote President William Ruto out of office in the 2027 General Election.
Gachagua promised that a united opposition government would deliver meaningful reforms and address the economic challenges facing ordinary Kenyans.
As Gachagua addressed the gathering, Matiang’i dramatically emerged through his car’s sunroof, further energizing the crowd.
