Kalonzo Musyoka Raises Alarm Over Alleged Sale of Kenyan ID Cards in Mogadishu
NAIROBI, Kenya — Wiper Party leader and former Vice President Honorable Kalonzo Musyoka has sparked a national conversation following explosive allegations regarding the integrity of Kenya’s citizenship documents.
Speaking at a recent public event, the opposition stalwart issued a stern warning to the government and the public about a burgeoning security crisis involving the illegal sale of Kenyan National Identification cards in Somalia.
The Allegations: IDs for Sale
According to Musyoka, he has received high-level intelligence indicating that rogue officials are compromising national security for profit.
He claimed that in Mogadishu, Somalia, Kenyan identification documents are reportedly being sold to non-citizens at a fee of $600 (approximately KSh 78,000).

“I have received Intel that some officials are selling Kenyan national identification cards in Mogadishu. This is a betrayal of our sovereignty,” Musyoka stated.
To support his claims, the Wiper leader alleged that at least 15 truck drivers were recently issued these crucial documents after paying the illicit fees. He argued that this syndicate allows foreign nationals to be registered and smuggled into Kenya under the guise of being citizens.
Security Risks and National Unity
Musyoka was careful to clarify that his concerns are not directed at the Kenyan Somali community, whom he praised as integral to the nation. Instead, his focus remains on the “manufacture” of documentation for individuals who have no legal claim to Kenyan citizenship.
He warned the Kenya Kwanza administration—which he frequently criticizes for failing to fulfill 2022 campaign promises—that ignoring this breach could lead to:
- Increased Security Threats: The potential for extremist elements to acquire legal transit documents.
- Voter Manipulation: Risks of “imported voters” influencing future democratic processes.
- Erosion of Public Trust: A decline in the sanctity of the National ID as a proof of identity.
The Wiper leader called for an immediate investigation into the immigration and registration departments, insisting that the matter be handled with the urgency it deserves to safeguard the country’s borders.
