Today on May 9, 2025. Embakasi East member of Parliament Honorable Babu Owino faced it rough in Homabay County. According to the video widely shared online and analyst by this writer, all was well during Charles Ong’ondo Funeral until Babu Owino arrived.
Immediately he got out of his vehicle, he was attacked by some goons forcing his security detail to intervene and whisk him to the tent. Calmness was restored by police officers who were in vicinity and Babu was finally allowed to attend the burial peacefully.
During the burial, leaders led by Homabay County governor Gladys Wanga called for peace and asked security agencies to work faster and establish who killed Charles Ong’ondo and what was the motive of the killing.
Ong’ondo was gunned down by assassins around the City mortuary roundabout. This was just a few minutes after leaving Parliament buildings.
His assassination shocked the country. While eulogizing him, national assembly speaker Moses Wetangula called on all members of Parliament to submit the list of their bodyguards for a fresh vetting claiming that those involved in the assassinations are people close to them.
