Homabay County Governor Gladys Wanga has broken her silence following a dramatic incident in Seme, Kisumu County, where Siaya Governor James Orengo was reportedly forced out of a burial ceremony by a group of rowdy youths.
In a video that has since circulated widely online, a chaotic scene unfolds as mourners and local leaders scramble for calm after the disruption.
The incident, which has sparked concern among political observers, saw several leaders call for tolerance and respect during public gatherings, especially funerals.

She acknowledged that the party has recently experienced divisions but maintained that these challenges would not derail its broader political agenda.
Wanga emphasized that ODM remains focused on forming the next government, either independently or through strategic coalitions.
According to her, the party’s strength lies in its grassroots support and long-standing political structures, which she believes are still intact despite the ongoing tensions.
“We will not allow individuals or factions to weaken ODM or push it into the opposition,” she stated firmly, signaling a strong stance against internal wrangles. She further called on leaders to exercise restraint and prioritize dialogue over confrontation.
The Seme incident has once again highlighted the growing political temperatures within ODM, especially as leaders position themselves ahead of future political alignments.
Analysts suggest that how the party manages its internal disputes in the coming months could significantly shape its role in Kenya’s next electoral cycle.
As calls for calm continue, all eyes remain on ODM’s leadership and its ability to navigate the current storm while maintaining party cohesion.
