Video: Edwin Sifuna’s Unexpected Remarks in Bungoma Leave Kenyans Talking
BUNGOMA, Kenya — A video circulating online depicting Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna making direct presidential remarks during a visit to Bumula, Bungoma County, has sparked widespread political debate.
Sifuna, a key figure in the Linda Mwananchi movement, arrived at the burial ceremony of the late sister to Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah under tight security, drawing a large crowd.
While the event was meant to pay tribute to the deceased, Sifuna’s address quickly took a political turn that caught many off-guard.
Addressing the gatherers in Bumula, the vocal lawmaker declared that he would not turn down the calls of citizens urging him to contest the country’s top office. Sifuna assured his supporters that as long as the people demand his leadership, he is prepared to go all the way to the presidency and will do everything possible to ensure he does not fail them.
“As long as the people are asking me to run for the top seat, I am going for the Presidency, and I will do everything to make sure I do not fail them,” Sifuna declared to the crowd.
The declaration came as a surprise to observers, given that the senator had previously maintained a guarded stance regarding his immediate presidential ambitions.
