Former President Uhuru Kenyatta has once again stirred political conversations across the country after hosting a series of high-profile meetings at his Ichaweri home in Gatundu, Kiambu County.
This comes just hours after he officially appointed former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i as the Jubilee Party’s 2027 presidential flagbearer.
According to sources close to the former Head of State, the virtual meeting Uhuru chaired earlier in the day brought together senior Jubilee officials and regional coordinators, where Matiang’i was not only unveiled as the party’s presidential candidate but also named Uhuru’s deputy within the party’s council structure.
The move signaled a major political comeback for the Jubilee Party, which has been largely silent since the 2022 General Election.

Shortly after the virtual session, Uhuru Kenyatta hosted the Norwegian Special Envoy to the Horn of Africa, Endre Stiansen, at his Ichaweri residence. The closed-door meeting reportedly focused on regional peace, governance, and diplomatic relations between Kenya and Norway.
Photos of the two leaders in deep discussion surfaced online, sparking mixed reactions among Kenyans, with many interpreting the meeting as part of Uhuru’s renewed international engagements.
Political analysts suggest Uhuru’s back-to-back meetings indicate a carefully calculated political re-entry, potentially aligning with plans to strengthen Jubilee’s position ahead of 2027. Others, however, view his renewed activity as part of wider regional diplomacy.
With Dr. Matiang’i now officially on the presidential path under the Jubilee banner, and Uhuru Kenyatta seemingly back at the center of political and diplomatic attention, Kenya’s political landscape appears set for yet another dramatic reshaping.
